Iron Pyrite is one of the most common types of sulfide mineral and is more popularly called Fool's Gold. Its known for its brass yellow coloring and metallic luster but can also be found with brownish black inclusions or steaks. The name is derived from the Greek word "pyros" which means fire, as Iron Pyrite can create sparks when its struck against stone or metal. Mining locations include Austria, Italy, Russia, China, Peru, and the U.S.
