It is also very popular among Native Americans who have mined and fashioned turquoise for over a thousand years. Turquoise derived its name from the French "pierre turquoise" meaning Turkish stone because trade routes that brought Turquoise to Europe from the mines in Asia went through Turkey, and Venetian merchants often purchased this stone in Turkish bazaars.

Turquoise is known to be a stone for strength and purification. It dispels negative energy and can be worn to protect against outside influence or pollutants in the atmosphere. It is thought to balance your chakras and stabilizes mood swings which help to instill an inner calm. It is excellent for exhaustion, depression and preventing panic attacks. Helps us to feel more balanced, promotes self realization and aids in creative problem solving. Turquoise is also a symbol of friendship.

Many times the actual stone is much better than my photo, as the camera does not always cooperate with me!
